ICU - Manager: Kara Evans Ph#
6 beds
ACLS, BLS, PALS - will have to complete vent competency upon
arrival to hospital
1 to 2
Meditech
No - House supervisor for hospital to fill in as charge as
needed
yes - one nurse aide shared between ICU and medsurg/tele
3 shifts per month usually - Friday, Sat, Sun considered weekend
shift
Currently no set requirement but traveler should be expected to
work holidays if needed

GE - they do have a monitor tech who will print strips and RN's
will have to read and confirm
Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, levophed, heparin, etc.

Hospitalist in house 24/7, intensivist to call over telehealth
robot as needed, they also round at 11am and 9pm via robot

No, hours are 6am-5:30pm, Omnicell for after hours, pharmacist will
also mix meds ahead of time if needed, they can also provide
support over phone at night if needed
12 hr shifts, 7-7, self scheduling to some degree, schedules made
out about 3-4 wk in advance usually
Float to medsurg where ratio is 1 to 4 for tele and 1 to 5 for
medsurg, they tend to give ICU nurses who float to medsurg a
lighter load, ICU may close if there is no need for patients to
stay on unit
Depends on skill level of traveler and if they have prior
experience with Meditech, usually 1-3 shifts
DKA, overdose, pneumonia, sepsis, anything more critical is
transferred out
Must have at least one year of experience working in ICU, no prior
travel experience is needed, must also be flexible to needs of unit
and hospital and be a team player.
